And yet, there is a clear lack of opportunities for us to showcase our own stories on our own terms without having to confront an identity that has been created for us by so many others. By telling our stories, Letters to Khadijah will cultivate our imaginings of who Khadijah was. Our letters will complicate the narrative of her life as a significant female figure in Islamic history, thus bringing Khadijah and the dynamic lives of Muslim women from the periphery to the centre. What would you write to Khadijah? This event is only open to self-identified Muslim women. Please respect the space they are creating. Friday, June 12 | 7pm - Responding to Abrupt Climate Change with Guy McPherson Dr. Guy McPherson, Professor Emeritus of Natural Resources from University of Arizona, has made a detailed study of the scientific literature on climate change and has determined that feedback loops and tipping points in the climate system are vastly increasing the rate of change, but are not being addressed in our official response policy. He will speak on this urgent topic, and about his personal journey from scientist and teacher to author and counter-culture activist.
